Creating a Website - Weebly

Last year for a Sustainable Communities (SOSE) assessment, I created a webquest about natural disasters using Weebly. The fllowing link will take you to my webquest: http://sosenaturaldisasters.weebly.com/. This webquest is about Natural Disasters for year 7 students. Weebly allowed me to insert and edit text, upload pictures, hyperlink pages and much more. I found that it was simple and easy to navigate and use. A benefit of Weebly is that there are no distracting advertisements on the page. This feature is excellent in the for the classroom. The PMI chart below shows the functionality of Weebly.

Plus
Minus
Interesting
-          Free website builder
-          Choice of layout design
-          Easy to navigate
-          Advertisement free
-          Some settings limited to PRO users
-          Teacher cannot post a feedback comment directly to student work like a blog can
-          As easy to use as powerpoint
-          Create class site with student accounts
-          Establish own privacy settings

Static websites such as Weebly allow students to explore website making and are simple to use. They can provide the students with basic ICT skills to create a websie.
